Born in Saskatchewan in 1936 to Mildred and Herman Giese, Lola was the first daughter of six children.
Growing up on a farm in rural Saskatchewan, she went to school and worked on the farm until she moved to Prince Albert to work in the hospital. In Prince Albert, she met and married Elmer Linfitt in 1953.
Her oldest son, Douglas, was born in Saskatchewan in 1954. In 1956, Lola moved to Prince George, BC, with Elmer, who was set to work in her brothers logging camp, EM&K Logging. The two settled there, making it their lifelong home. Lola and Elmer’s first and only daughter, Shirley, was born in 1963 in Prince George. Their youngest son, Melvin, followed in 1967.
Lola had a strong love of family and community and held a deep affection for her siblings, cousins, children, nieces and nephews, and grandchildren. Throughout her life, she enjoyed keeping in touch and visiting with neighbours and friends; always working hard but also taking the time to enjoy her many blessings.
In January of 2001, Elmer passed away. Lola pulled her family and friends around her and carried on. In 2010, Lola decided that the winters in Prince George were too cold. She would go on to spend them with Shirley and her family in Langley, returning home to Prince George for her summers with Melvin and his family.
In 2015, Lola was diagnosed with Stage 4 Lung Cancer and began an incredible journey with bravery and strength. With the help of her doctors; Dr. Mitchell Fagan, lung specialist Dr. Rita Hayworth, her oncologists Dr. Robert Winston and Dr. Suzanne Gilmore and all the staff and nurses in the Abbotsford Cancer Clinic; she went through chemo- and immunotherapy treatments. She continued to lead a good life, traveling with her family twice to Hawaii and once on an Alaskan cruise. She made sure to return home every summer to Prince George.
After a short illness caused by the spreading lung cancer, Lola died at home with her daughter and sister Iris beside her on the morning of July 31, 2019.
She is survived by...
