Growing up in isolation on an island far from anyone's view or reach on Lake Superior, I had little contact with anyone except my immediate family. Until the last 15 years or so, I didn't even have a clue that I had an aunt on my Dads side.

It wasn't until she made a cross country road trip to visit us all, and she joined us at my daughters 4th birthday party roughly 12 years ago that I was finally able to start getting to know my Aunty Kat. After that visit, she began making it an annual tradition to come and join our family for at least a week.

I grew to look forward to these visits and I came to know Aunty Kat as the kindest and most generous person I've ever known. Tolerant even of my stubborn opinions with a smile on her face. The Kat I got to know, often went above and beyond to help when ever she saw someone in need. Something I have wished I could return the favor for.

A few short years ago, my aunts visits stopped. Road tripping was a little to rough to keep doing. So my family and I planned to finally go see the other side of those mountains I had always wanted to see but until now didn't have a good enough reason to go.

Sadly, a pandemic shot those plans down before they got off the ground and we never got back around to planning a vacation again. Every few months, something would come up that brought my Aunty Kat to mind and I kept in touch with the occasional email updating her on all that has been happening. Recently, I was cleaning out some of my dads old stored boxes and came across some old 8mm video tape clippings. After days of work, digitally scanning many dozens of spliced and broken pieces of film, I was ecstatic to find a small clip of my Aunty Kat when she was just a young girl. I watched it over and over again, and somehow just seeing her back then made me feel like I knew her a little better and that there was no missing years in our relationship. It made me very happy to finally be able to give her something in return for all h

Kat was a real life superwoman who done so much for others she was a true inspiration to many. She was my soulmate, my best friend, my mum and my sister from another mother. I am humbled by the challenge of describing such a wonderful woman and the love she showed to many. 
Kathy's love of everything was contiguous we would speak for hours! Watching her play the piano and sing to me i will never forget the peace and tranquillity we both felt. Looking at the stars planting herbs and flowers are some of the simple things we would love, then we loved the pampering sessions boat rides and restaurants, we loved cooking and recreating something we had eaten out at home n making it better! It didn't matter what we was doing we had fun. Everyone has a hero and Kat was mine BUT she was easily everyone's hero making a massive impact to her friends and family the way she gave her love support and time and advise and so many other ways she provided support to a remarkable number of people was inspiring. I will forever play it forward as Kat would want us all to do.

You inspired me to be a better person. You was a beautiful woman inside and out and was a wonderful friend to me, supported me over the years with gentle and caring nature."

I always admired how she never judged or forced her opinions on anyone, but offered valuable and truthful advice that I will surely miss. I will carry you with me forever in my heart, anything purple will forever remind me of you and butterflies will make me feel closer too you. I sat down to write this knowing it would be hard
Then I decided to do this as a celebration of your life and our time together
We bonded so long ago over the phone long before you arrived here in Australia
The minute you arrived at mums place we knew within seconds we were sisters from another time though we had never seen pics of each other or meet
Both of us dressed in full black
Long purple hair
Drank smoked
Loved our makeup
We both stubborn
Hated our picture taken and hot weather
And our favourite colour PURPLE the start of many things we bonded over
From there we just grew together as sisters and we started to make the most amazing memories together way to many to list
Everyone who meet you here fell in love with you I wasn't surprised by that at all
Your light was always shining you showed people true kindness, genuine friendship, love, support, always putting others before yourself, too many to list...

Over the years our bond just got stronger and deeper even when you went back to Canada it never wavered You never changed always the one consistent person in everyone's life which is why you are loved by so many. 
I have so many more things I'd like to say but you know them
Do know that you are loved more than anything and will be truly missed
I'm not sure how to move forward without you by my side but the memories will help me

Thank you for being you I was truly blessed you entered my life I gained a sister, best friend, someone to tell all my secrets and so much more a bond that will never break.

Now I'm sad to let you go as it's hard to fill the piece of me that is missing. Know you are loved and remembered well here and always will be.

You came into our lives so long ago and when you arrived in Australia you just fitted straight into the family
The daughter in law I'd always wanted
We shared so many beautiful times together here and in Canada
I will always treasure the times that harold and I got to spend with you and Hal and Damian in Canada We made some amazing memories together over the years that I will treasure forever. I miss you so much
You will forever be in my heart.

For those of you that don't know me, I am Eve Graham, Kathy's sister-in-law. I didn't know Kathy back when she was growing up with her mother and father. I met her shortly after she became Mrs. Fisher. She was SO young at the time, and so was I. Not long after, I married her brother, (whom Kathy believed was her uncle,) a fact even he didn't know at that time. That's a long story that I won't go into, however when she eventually found out the truth, that Gordon was not her uncle, but that he was her brother, Kathy was SO happy, and let him know that she wanted to make up for the years lost with him and his family. She didn't know she was an aunt, and had a nephew, Kevin, with wife Tammy, and even a great nephew Wesley, and great niece, Payge.

Make up for it she did! Especially when she realized that her brother was not expected to live long. Some years she drove all the way here to Thunder Bay, in her large RV, and parked it here on our property, spending time getting to know her brother and his family a lot better.

I will be eternally grateful for the love and thoughtful kindness bestowed on her brother. She increased the happiness, joy and comfort he experienced before we lost him, five years ago on December 1st. I believe that Kathy gave him one more reason to keep fighting to live, which allowed me to have him that much longer.

Kathy made sure his needs were met, in so many ways.

One of the many compassionate blessings, was when, she made Gordon comfortable at the back of her RV, and drove he and I across the boarder to visit elderly friends that we missed. When we arrived back home, she told me, that she was leaving her RV here for me to learn to drive, so I could take her brother on more trips. Long story short, knowing my emotional condition, with the thought of losing Gordon, I decided not to wreck Kathy's RV, and end Gordon's life sooner. Kathy did come back once again before we lost him.

Through all this, her love was poured out on all of us. grieved, she flew me once a year, to spend time with her, sharing in her grief also, helping me to move on.

Even, after her own illness, and long stay in the hospital, when she got back home, she tried to minimize the extent of her condition to me. She remained faithful in emails, and phone calls, especially, most recently as I go through my Chemotherapy. I am so thankful for our last phone conversation. It was upbeat and positive, with laughter for both of us.

Kathy, I love you, and you are greatly missed in this household, by our family, and it brings comfort just thinking of you with Gordon now.

I've known Kat for nearly 30 Years. I met her when I worked at the New West Crown Counsel office. I, of course, was nervous starting a new job, new career and there was Kat with a big smile and a hello. I realized that Kat was my life line in my new job. We talked and laughed and went for lunch all the time. It was usually Chinese food by the way. I am so grateful for Kat helping me through those nervous times. Charmaine met Kat when Kat came to the Surrey crown counsel office. Kat was put in the Witness Department with the US and things got even more fun in our little corner of the office. There were lots of deep and not so deep conversations and lots of  giggling. 

Kat did the IT and ordering of office supplies. Invariably if we needed something and it came in purple then we got it in purple. I wouldn't be at all surprised if there weren't some purple pens still floating around that office. Oh and Kat was also the person to go to if you needed a Werthers hard candy. 

With Kat you know where you stood and she let you know if you stepped out of line. But Kat was loving and generous and loyal to the core. Charmaine and I are blessed to have had her in our lives and as co-worker but most importantly as a friend. We will miss her so much.

Rest in Peace, Dear Sweet Kat thanks for the friendship. You were such a very special lady and it was an honour to call you my friend. Fly high with the angels. Love Mary from Ireland 

Dearest Kat, my dear friend. You left us way too soon. You were one of the kindest, most generous, loving and supportive person I know. You always picked me up when I was down and cheered me on in my success in life. You helped me and so many others and that is something I will never forget. I told you many many times you were an angel on earth. God has gained one of the most special angels he could in you. I love you and will miss you so so much! Thank you for being you. 

Kat , a dear friend, I will always hold you close to my heart. You were always available to talk to, you gave your time freely. We had many spiritual conversations so I know you are in a better place. You have a new body, no pain, only joy ! You now know the truth about all those things we talked about: spiritual things, and science fiction , ETs, and more. I am smiling thinking happy you are. Your love shone to all and may it continue to shine as we remember what a beautiful , loving is Kat . 

So many things are left unsaid. I will never again see your face or hear your calming voice.
 Each day with you was special... I loved your voice, smile, laugh, and your sweet tenderness. 
Your joyful, playful spirit was such a contagious one. You were so amazing and beautiful in so many ways. 
These days are hard without you,
but this you should know.

 The tears still keep coming my precious friend. We knew each other for about 10 years, but just became close in the past several years. You meant so much to so many people.
