John James McGowan

It is with overwhelming sadness that we announce the tragic passing of a devoted and dear husband, father, brother, uncle, grandfather and great-grandfather, on September 22, 2011. John will be lovingly remembered by his wife of 59 years Susie, his children Jim (Jan), Patti (Bruce), Andrew (Ruby), grandchildren, Jared (Valerie), Jocelyn (Gabe), Joshua, Brock, Shannen, Rogan, April, and great-grandchildren Niamh and Peter. He also leaves behind his sister Pat Perchal (Peter) and niece Janice Perchal (Gary) and nephews Jon and Paul Perchal (Tom) and many other relatives and friends. John was born and raised in Winnipeg, Manitoba where he met and married Susie in 1952. He was a long time employee of Greb Shoes, first as an accountant and plant manager and then went into the sales and marketing side. He moved to the West Coast in 1968 with his family as a sales representative for Greb Shoes. John was an avid golfer and curler and an active member of the Commercial Travellers Association and the Langley Curling Club. John touched the lives of many and forever will be missed. Celebration of Life will be held on Friday, September 30 at 10:30 am at Henderson's Langley Funeral Home, 20786 Fraser Highway, Langley, BC. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to SPCA or World Wildlife Federation.
