Jim was born July 25th, 1942 in Vancouver, BC where he lived with his parents and sister Frances. While working at Fyfe Smith Co. Jim met Wendy MacLean and the two were married in 1970. They had six children: Ryan, Shaun, Erin, Quinn, Kevan, and Tristan. Jim is survived by his sister, five of his children and his four beloved grandchildren. He is predeceased by his wife, Wendy and son, Quinn.
Jim ran his own company, O'Ryan Distributors, out of his home in Langley for years and would later enjoy working for the Surrey School District as a Safe School Liaison, primarily at Fleetwood Park Secondary. For years after retirement, he would be recognized and greeted by former students as "Mr. T."
He loved being outdoors and spending time with his family. He enjoyed a chilled glass of cider or wine and sharing a laugh with just about anyone he encountered.
Jim passed peacefully on January 16th, 2024, with family in attendance. Although he is missed, his family is relieved that he is now at peace. A celebration of Jim's life will be held at 2pm on February 3rd at Manhattans at the Murrayville Town Pub in Langley. His children would like to thank the staff of Hilton Villa Seniors Community for their care and support of Jim in his last days.
