Jane Ann Anderson, known as Ann, nee Shelley, died unexpectedly at the Royal Columbian Hospital during the wee hours of April 10, 2024 in New Westminster at the age of 86, one week shy of her 87 birthday.
Ann is survived by her husband, Richard Charles Anderson and their 6 children, Elizabeth Kearl of Langley, BC; Michael Anderson of Langley, BC; Kathy Badesso of Victoria, BC; Karen Burgess of Edmonton, Alberta; Sandra Murray of Kamloops, BC; and Brenda Fisher of Layton, Utah. Ann's posterity includes her 6 children, 27 grandchildren, 76 great-grandchildren, and 3 great-great-grandchildren.
Ann was born on 17 April, 1937 in Calgary, Alberta, to Doris, nee Goodwin, and John Thomas Shelley. Ann graduated from Kitsilano High School in Vancouver in 1935 and started work as a receptionist, cashier, and part-time telephone operator at Plimley's Fourth Avenue, a car dealership in Kitsilano. A year later she married Richard Charles Anderson, her high school sweetheart in 1936, in Vancouver, BC. After having two children, and Richard's graduation from the Teacher's Program at UBC, they moved from Vancouver to Richmond, BC, where they raised their 6 children, then in 1987, they moved to Langley, BC.
Ann's children remember her as a hardworking, determined, and wonderful mother who encouraged them to pursue their goals, while maintaining high standards. Ann was accomplished at sewing, quilting, needlework and knitting, canning and food storage, emergency preparation, cooking and baking. She served diligently as a teacher at church, appealing to all age groups from young children to adults and in other assignments as well. She was a devout Christian, generous with her time, witty, and dedicated. She was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.
A funeral is scheduled for April 26, 2024 at 11:00 am, located at 20370 - 82nd Avenue, Langley.
