It took me awhile to realize this online memorial for Jaclyn existed. I am grateful it does: a reminder of all the people Jackie touched with her generous spirt, ride-or-die loyalty, and sharp wit. Jackie was a dear friend of mine since elementary school. She was smart and sensitive, always up on trends way before the rest of us girls. Jackie was a leader in so many ways: early on, she recognized the value of having a secret language among friends, and patiently taught us all Double Dutch. We girls weaponized that for years, and are now teaching it to our own children. She was ahead of the culture trends, whether it be the latest Ck fragrance or listening to Green Day just before it was cool. As we grew up, she proved herself to be generous, not least of all with her whip-smart sense of humor. Jackie was thoughtful, sincere, and genuinely happy for others. She loved caring for and connecting with others, and would have been a great mom. She was so tuned into and moved by the children in her life. I have a photo of her holding my son the first time she met him that I will forever cherish. Jackie and I grew apart in recent years and I carry a lot of sadness around that. What we did share, intermittently but in an enduring and powerful way, was an ability to connect just through the sharing of music. The last song she sent me was "To Build a Home", by the Cinematic Orchestra. That gave me pause. The memories I hold dearest of Jackie are the belly-achingly joyful ones, filled with laughter, of our youth: from the intricately-folded and beyond-our-years dirty notes she would pass us in French class (which I'm sure we've all kept at least a few of), to the way she could capitalize on a ditzy thing one of us said and turn it into an everlasting and clever joke (Leanne's new shoes, for example, though I'm certain there are far more recent ones). Jackie loved others in a big way and left a big hole in the hearts of those who knew and loved her right back. 

On my mind all the time but especially this weekend, we drove past Rattle Snake Island and of course the memories started flowing Shane and I shed a few tears laughed about some great times including thanksgiving, we cooked the best turkey EVER that night. I miss you my Jax I hope you know how much I love you ❤️

I worked with Jackie at the pharmacy in Surrey Memorial Hospital. She was a beautiful young woman with a bubbly, fun, witty personality as many have mentioned. She was also an excellent Pharmacy Assistant. She was quick to learn and capable at every task. We all liked her. She was a good friend to many at work.

We all have our special memories of Jackie. What I remember was her interest in helping at risk street youth. She spoke, with enthusiasm, about her experiences sleeping out in the streets as part of a fund raiser for them. It had quite an impact on her. Her story had an impact on me too. I was happy to offer my support. I hope to participate in her memory one day. That is Jackie's legacy to me.

My deepest sympathy for her dear family.  God's Peace upon you, dear one.



So sad to hear this news. Jackie was always the life of the party drinking her  “jackie specials” with her bubbly outgoing personality and a laugh that was so wonderfully contagious! Me and Ashley spent a lot of time over the years with her and  I have great memories I will always remember. She was someone I looked up to very much! I worked with Jackie at otter co-op for a number of years when she worked in the office. She was so much fun, always in a happy, bubbly mood and making everyone laugh! Heard about her passing from Bianca who also worked with us, we’re both  very sad and shocked. We send our condolences out to her family and share your grief. Take care!

It breaks my heart to know you are gone. You were taken from us too soon and the world will never be the same. I have so many incredible memories and I will hold them all close to my heart forever. Driving around in the Jetta and laughing till we cried. Inside jokes, nicknames, Miss Vickies  salt and vinegar chips and crazy stories. I can still hear your laugh like it was yesterday and I will never forget it. I feel so fortunate you were in my life but sad we didn’t have longer.  Rest well my beautiful friend....until we meet again ❤️.

So many memories, they’re like a slideshow in my head.  From the first day we met you and your family we were friends. We lived side by side through two homes, you and your sister, Julie, grew up with our boys, Frank and Steve. Holding Steve when he was a newborn just home from the hospital, playing in the yard, trick or treating, birthday parties, holidays at Osoyoos, high school, backyard parties when the parents weren’t around (FrankFest).  We can’t believe, just like that, you’re gone from our lives.  Our hearts are breaking for Tom, Carolyn, Julie, Luka, West, Glen and all your family.  Jackie, we’d like to think that you’re somewhere nice and warm, the sun in shining on your face and you are at peace. Love Sam and Tim
