Gerald Brian Howell known as Jerry, Jer and “Howie bird” by those who knew him best, was born on May 4th, 1951, in Halifax, Nova Scotia to parents Geraldine (Gerry) and Francis Howell, as number 4 in a group of 7 children. Jerry passed away peacefully in Surrey, British Columbia at the age of 71 on December 31, 2022. He was a husband, proud father, brother and a good friend to anyone that crossed his path. Jerry is remembered by his wife Marianne, his daughters Ashlee and Aimee, his brothers David, Frank, Don, Paul, Jim and sister Diane.
Jerry was a loving, hardworking man with a healthy dose of humor running through his veins. With a passion for cars and connecting with people, and after more than a decade working at Canadian Tire as a Service Manager, Jerry was self-employed in the couriering business for several years before eventually running his own business “Howells Cartage”, making deliveries throughout the province.
Jerry was meticulous and always took a lot of pride in his work; from cars to motorcycles and everything in between. The owner of a collector’s 1988 Suzuki Cavalcade LXE, he was an avid member in the North American Cavalcade group – developing strong friendships through numerous touring trips over the years.
Jerry was kind and generous to everyone he knew; always wanting to lend a helping hand to family and friends alike. With his infectious smile, constant jokes and lighthearted nature, Jerry taught those around him how to laugh and not take life so seriously – something he will always be remembered for. His memory is kept close and his spirit alive in those who love him. “If I don’t see you through the week, I’ll see you through the window” is something Jerry used to say in lieu of goodbye and will continue to hold true until we meet again.
