It is with great sadness we announce the passing of our father Donald Charles Henry Watson, who died peacefully on March 21, 2025, in Langley, B.C. Dad was born April 8, 1937, in Lashburn Saskatchewan to Charles" Chuck" and Annie Watson. He was the first son in a family of five children, Patricia (Gary) Maxine, Geraldine (Peter) Charlene (Dennis) and Larry (Sandra)
Dad married our mother Carole Ann (Hart) in Prince Albert Saskatchewan, in 1960 and they remained devoted to each other for over 64 years. He was a loving father, grandfather and great grandfather. He will be missed by his children; Don Jr, Kenneth (Leanne) Patricia and Terry along with his grandchildren; Bradley, Sarah (Daniel) Taylor (Ethan) Mitchell and great grandchild Bennett.
Our father, Don, mas a ticketed electrician yet found a long, successful career in finance. He was respected for his integrity, work ethic and loyalty. Don ended his career February 28, 2003, after 13 years with Canadian Western Bank, retiring as Vice President of their industrial division. We were all so very proud of him.
In 1959 along with his own father, Chuck, Dad bult his first home for himself and our mother, Carole Ann, in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan. Over the years he continued to demonstrate his love to family, and friends by building. He built countless sundecks, fences, basement suits, family rooms and even custom furniture. This was a gift he gave freely to illustrate his love and give to family and friends.
Dad and mom led fulfilling lives traveling together around Europe, Mexico, Cuba and Jamaica. He once said he enjoyed Italy the most because of the fantastic people and food. This makes sense because Dad loved his pasta and red wine.
With their fifth wheel Dad and Mom saw many, trips across America as well as countless family camping vacations. Dad extended the generous loan of his trailer to his grateful daughters on many occasions.
It has to be said, Dad most enjoyed sport, Little Kids and Dogs. He and Mom loved to curl and play golf then as time passed Dad kept up his love of playing hockey. He was one of the original team members of the North Delta Olde Puckers and continued to play hockey until he was 80.
We were very, lucky to have our dad for 87 years. He was a kind humble and grateful man. Dad was the best example of how to live a good Christian life. Don Watson will be so terribly missed, and in our grief, we will try to honor him and be grateful to have known such a truly decent and good man.
The family would like to thank Don's Family Doctor Henry Ajaero, for his compassion and care as well as the dedicated people at Langley Hospice. A Graveside Service will be held in the spring, and the family ask that, in lieu of flowers, a donation be made to Dads favorite charity, the Union Gospel Mission.
