November 26, 1973 – October 15, 2018
David was born an only child in Winnipeg, Manitoba to Cyril and Blanche (Mae) Reid, and spent most of his life there getting an education and then working as an accountant for various business including Children’s Hospital. He came out to British Columbia after his Mother’s death, and his father remarrying in around 1981. He then resided in Kelowna and lived a quiet life. Never Married or had any children but did enjoy having a new step brother Terry Phillips and seeing Terry’s wife Maureen and their children Leslie, Karen and Keith and grandchildren Kyle, Leif, Kiara and Ciara.
David later moved out to Vancouver, B.C. in around 2000. He enjoyed his daily bus route from home to his favourite coffee shop, and then on to the library, where he would read for hours before returning home, sometimes with new books in hand. He would then settle into his chair by the window and listen to CBC on the radio.
David moved into a care home “Cooper Place” and lived happily there for many years until moving to St. Vincent’s Langara Care Home his last 2-3 years of his life. He grew very close to his Niece Leslie, whom would visit him very often, accompany him on Dr. visits etc. and make certain anything he needed was taken care of. He loved his days in the sunshine outside in the gardens, smelling the flowers and feeling the warmth.
David will lovingly be remembered for his sweet demeanour, bright eyes and the most beautiful smile anyone has ever seen! He was Thankful to have the care he had from the great nurses at both Cooper Place and St. Vincent’s, and the companionship of his friends and family!
We will all miss him very deeply!
