and passed peacefully November 30, 2019 in Surrey, BC at the age of 57.
The family moved permanently to Whitehorse, Yukon in 1981. Determined to follow her passion for ice hockey she played with men’s teams there and was instrumental in getting the ladies program started. Perseverance, drive and true grit brought many successes as a player. She also gave back through coaching and officiating at youth levels. Her skills earned her an invitation to tryout for Canada's first ever women’s national ice hockey team in 1990. She moved to BC, shortly after she continued to thrive as a player and coach. She proudly represented the Yukon and at many Western & National Championships in both capacities.
Motorcycling also brought great joy and she formed many close bonds with fellow riders . She equally enjoyed day trips as well as the 2 week trips on her Harley Davidson Dynaglide.
She listened to all kinds of music but ELVIS was the ultimate choice since she was young.
Connie always had a project on the go, whether it be with mechanics, wood working or home improvements. With her energy and imagination, all was possible. Connie attended Kwantlen University College specializing in Architectural/Mechanical drafting. She spent 20 years in the field becoming the department head. 2013 saw a career change to pursue a job as a Correctional Officer at Whitehorse Correctional Centre. She loved the work and took great pride in being on the honour guard.
As a conciensous employee she gathered lifelong friends along the way. She will be remembered for not only her work ethics and professionalism, but her compassion for others and ability to make people laugh.
Connie was fiercely devoted to family and friends and with her spark, enthusiasm and infectious laugh. She will be sadly missed. She left a lasting impression everywhere she went and impacted all in a significant way. She was one of a kind, the best kind.
Connie is survived by her spouse Christine, mother Janet, sisters; Bonnie Neumann (Rick), and Jenny Hachey (Dean) as well as many nieces, nephews and extended family.
As there are many wonderful memories to recall and stories to tell, Celebration's of her Life will be held in the New Year, both in Surrey, BC as well as Whitehorse, Yukon.
