Adam, our dear brother, uncle and friend passed suddenly from time into eternity on January 26, 2022. He is with his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.
Adam was born in Yugoslavia and in the fall of 1944 fled to Austria with his parents and four siblings. July of 1953 the family, now with four new siblings born in Austria, a total of nine children, immigrated to Canada and made their home in Winnipeg, Manitoba where the last baby girl was born.
During his high school years Adam delivered newspapers for the Winnipeg Free Press for which he was granted a “Carrier’s Certificate of Honor”, after high school graduation he worked as a driver for Perth Drycleaners until he moved to British Columbia in the fall of 1965 to attend Western Pentecostal Bible College (WPBC), now called Summit Pacific Bible College. In 1969 Adam graduated with a ‘Four Year Diploma in Religious Education’.
During his summer vacation through college and fulltime after graduation he worked for several years on passenger trains of Canadian National Railway in the sleeper coaches. He then worked at various positions as a longshoreman with the Waterfront Employers of British Columbia, including driving tractor trailers and frontend loaders, until his retirement.
Adam did not go into traditional ministry but he enjoyed teaching Sunday School and his passion was missions, specially on the continent of Africa. He supported many ministries, missions, his church and WPBC/Summit Pacific College. Adam was very generous but very private about this, and until now only the recipients knew that Uncle Adam contributed to the university/college funds of several family members.
Adam attended Broadway Church in Vancouver since he moved to BC and has been part of and attended many programs and groups there. He taught Sunday School in his early time at Broadway. He volunteered for kitchen and cleanup duty for the ALPFA program, attended singles groups and functions, the international students’ fellowship, men’s fellowship and others. For many years he loved singing in “The Singing Christmas Tree” at Broadway Church. He always encouraged friends, family, co-workers, Christian and non-Christian to attend. He and his friend Wayne W. were in street ministry.
Among other activities, Adam loved to cook, walk, attend seminars, sit at the park and watch the children laughing and playing. He had a great sense of humour. He enjoyed going to Church camp, including seniors’ camp at Nanoose Bay, on Vancouver Island. He loved to spend time and play with his many nieces and nephews, great and great-great and his family across the Canada. Although he travelled mainly across Canada to visit family, and attend weddings, he had the amazing experience of visiting Israel and Jordan.
Predeceased by a toddler bother Adam, and infant sister Malvine in Yugoslavia, and his parents, Konrad and Christina, his brother Konrad and sister Theresia. Survived by 7 sisters, Christel, Lis, Traude of Ontario, Hilda, Ingrid of Manitoba, Kathie, Ernie of British Columbia, as well as many nieces, nephews, great and great-great, across Canada from B.C. to Ontario and cousins in Germany and the USA.
We miss you Brother Dear, we know we will see you again because of God’s Amazing Grace and Love.
