William J. Poe Jr. 84 of Lancaster, passed away Tuesday, June 5, 2018 at Pickering House. Bill was born August 19, 1933 in Staley, N.C. He was a member of Mount Pleasant Baptist Church in Staley, N.C. and also attended Calvary Lutheran Church in Lancaster. A proud United States Air Force veteran during the Korean Conflict, and a life member of the American Legion. Retired from RCA in Circleville, OH. A past member of the Olivedale golf league and a passionate fisherman all of his life.
He is survived by daughter and son-in-law, Debbie and Alvie Blankenship of Lancaster, son, Doug Poe of Naples, Florida. Grandchildren Jessica (Dwayne) Ferguson, Alvie Blankenship Jr., Angel (Rod) Horn. Great grandchildren Riley, Caleb, Sophia Horn, Jayden Ferguson. Three great-great grandchildren. Sisters and brothers in laws, Irene and Jerry Duncan, Treva and Clyde Johnson and Marie and Boyd Bare.
He was preceded by the love of his life, Jean Ann (Kachel) Poe. His parents William Jesse Poe Sr. and Queen Esther (Edwards) Poe, a brother Boyd C. Poe.
Services will be at 11 am, Friday, June 8, 2018 at Halteman-Fett & Dyer funeral home with Pastor Craig Cessna officiating. Burial will follow in Maple Grove Cemetery. Friends may visit from 6-8 pm Thursday, June 7, 2018 at the funeral home.
