William Lowell Azbell, 94, of Lancaster, passed away Tuesday, February 21, 2023. He was born to the late James W. and Naomi (O’Rourke) Azbell on July 31, 1928 in Lancaster. William served in the US Army during the Korean Conflict and retired from Columbia Gas after 35 years of service.
William is survived by his wife of 70 years, Betty Jean Azbell; daughter, Judy (Robert) Kistler; grandchildren, Kelly (Paul) Shoemaker and Ryan (Kerrie) Kistler; 5 great grandchildren, Brandon and Evan Shoemaker, Karson, Levi and Parker Kistler, special friends Angelina Bowers, Maryann Tigner and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Walter; sisters, Mary Newman, Alice Doss and Ellen Boggs.
A funeral service will be held 10:00 AM Friday March 10, 2023 at the HALTEMAN-FETT & DYER FUNERAL HOME with Pastor Paul Wymer officiating. Burial will follow at Stukey Cemetery in Sugar Grove, Ohio. Visitation will be held Thursday March 9, 2023 from 6-8 PM at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to Fairfield County Humane Society in William’s memory.
