Russell L. Woodard, 96 of Lancaster, left this earth to meet his Savior early Saturday morning, March 23, 2024. He was born May 14, 1927 to the late Earl and Lola Woodard. Russell was a WWII Veteran serving in the United States Army in Berlin. He worked for over 40 years at Anchor Hocking Closure Division. He was an avid sports fan, especially of the Ohio State Buckeyes. He was an active member of Lancaster United Brethren Church, where he served in several capacities over the years. He was a prayer warrior who truly loved the Lord and sought to live a life that helped lead others to a life of Faith.
His family was at the heart of every aspect of his life. His love was unending and will never be forgotten.
He is survived by his daughters, Debbie (Tony) and Cheryl (Curt) Upp; grandchildren, Brian (Angie) Martin, Adam (Angie) Dupler, Amber (Patrick) Gavin and Derek; his great-grandchildren, Kendall, Gavin, Gracyn, Maddie, Sylvia and Lyla; sister and brother in law, Vi and Jim Thompson; as well as several nephews and nieces.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 63 years, Patricia Ann Woodard and his brother and sister in law, Maynard and Sonja Woodard.
Funeral Services will be held at 10AM on Thursday, March 28, 2024 at the Lancaster United Brethren Church with Pastor Greg Voight officiating. Burial with Military Honors is to follow at Grandview Cemetery. Visitation will be held on Wednesday from 2PM-4PM & 6PM-8PM at the HALTEMAN-FETT & DYER FUNERAL HOME, as well as ONE HOUR PRIOR to the services on Thursday at the Church.
In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to the Lancaster United Brethren Church (1125 Pleasantville Rd Lancaster, OH 43130) or to Honor Flight Columbus ( 2233 N Bank Dr, Columbus, OH 43220) in memory of Russell.
