Ronald James Packard Jr. after a short illness, went home to be with the Lord on December 17, 2021, surrounded by his family. He was a graduate of Liberty Union HS and The Ohio State University with a Bachelor and Masters degree in Political Science. Ron was a two time liver transplant recipient who dedicated his second life of 27 years to organ and tissue public education. He worked at Lifeline of Ohio as a community education coordinator who spoke to thousands of high school students and members of the public over his career about the importance of organ and tissue donation.
Ron is survived by his wife of 28 years Alicia Crouch Packard, his beloved children James and Joy Packard and two large Labradors Barry and Ducky. A farm boy at heart he was an avid urban gardener and do-it-yourselfer. He was also a huge OSU football fan, lover of science fiction, fan of Warren Zevon and Meatloaf and well-read military history buff.
He is also survived by his parents Ronald Packard Sr and Carole (King) Packard, sisters Angela (Kent) Kerns, Betsy (Mark) Loy, and nieces and nephews, Noah, Ria, Ben, Samantha, Logan, Tori, Daniel, Andrew, Will, Cole, Anna and Peter, and great nephew John. Plus numerous aunts,uncles, and cousins who will greatly miss him.
He was preceded in death by grandparents Walter L. and Bernadine King, Delores Rader, and Robert Packard, infant siblings Cindy and Leslie Packard, uncle Joe McAndrews, Aunt Barbara Millirons, Uncle Phillip Packard and beloved dog Miles.
Viewing to be held on Wednesday, December 22nd, 2021 at HALTEMAN-FETT & DYER FUNERAL HOME from 1PM-4PM & 6PM-8PM. A Homegoing Mass at St Bernadette Church will be held on Thursday December 23rd, 2021 at 10AM with Father Tyron Tomson officiating. Burial will be at St. Mary Cemetery in Lancaster.
His family would like to express their appreciation for the love and support received from the staff of Fairhope Hospice in Lancaster and the doctors, nurses and support staff of The Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center.
