Richard T. “Dick” Gray, 81, of Lancaster, passed away Saturday July 16, 2011 at Fairfield Medical Center. Richard was born April 12, 1930 in Ponca City, Oklahoma. He was a member of St. John's Episcopal Church and a US Navy Veteran serving in Korea.
He is a graduate of the University of Kansas where he received his electrical engineering degree while on active duty with the Navy. He also played basketball, “Rock, Chalk, Jayhawk!”. Mr. Gray had a distinguished career with Michigan National Bank, Haskelite/Evans Products, Coast Manufacturing/Hexcel Corp. and Diamond Power. As a member of St. John's Episcopal Church for 47 years, he served on the vestry, and as both junior and senior warden. He was also a member the Fairfield Kiwanis and enjoyed playing tennis.
He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Margaret “Polly” Gray; daughters, Margaret “Peggy” Junker, Sara “Sally” (Rob) Farnick, Nancy Gray; sons, Richard "Mac" Gray, Davis (Josine) Gray; 6 grandchildren; sister, Emily Jane Gray; nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, McDowell and Josephine (McFadden) Gray, sisters, Audrey Bishop and Evelyn Grubbs.
Funeral service will be held at 1:00 p.m. Wednesday at St. John's Episcopal Church, Lancaster with Reverend William Pursley officiating. Friends may visit from 2-4 and 6-8 pm Tuesday at the HALTEMAN-FETT & DYER FUNERAL HOME. Private Burial will be at Maple Grove Cemetery at a later date.
