Larry Edward Mason age 80 of Lancaster, OH, formerly of Lincoln Village and Vinton County, passed away on October 4, 2017. He was born at his parents’ home in Jackson Township, Vinton County on August 26, 1937. Son of the late Delbert Edwin and Vera Eileen (Ringer) Mason. He was a graduate of McArthur High School class of 1955. He retired from Simmons Mattress Co. after 43 years of dedicated service. Larry was an active member, board member and past president of Grace United Church of Christ. He was also a member of the church choir.
He is survived by his son, Larry Keith Mason of Lancaster; daughter, Karen (James) Mason Jewell of Dublin; brother Paul E Mason; 3 grandchildren, Brian (Krystal) Mason of Alexandria ,Virginia, Aaron Mason of Phoenix, AZ, and Gretchen Jewell of Dublin; 3 step children, Vickie (Rob) Erdy of Glouster, OH; Glen (Melissa) Burchfield of Logan,OH, Tonia (Pat) Sherritt of Logan; step grandchildren, Hollie Kawecki, Joe Canter and Cassie Robinette, Glen Burchfield Jr., Annie Lindsey, Beth Hogue, Renee Robinette, Jake Sherritt, Pat Sherritt and Amie McGlothlin; 24 great grandchildren; 2 brother-in-laws, George (Lori) Brenick of St. Augustine, FL and Bruce (Shirin) Brenick of Jacksonville, FL; many nephews, nieces and friends; special friends Berdena and Richard Morgan of Vinton Co; special friend and companion Kathy Bowsher, 2 aunts, Helen Minton and Eileen Mason.
He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, Linda Brenick Mason, and his stepdaughter Debbie (Walter) Ringhiser. He was married to Mary Lee Copenhaver on June 21, 1958 of Logan, OH for 25 years and they had 2 children (Keith & Karen). He married his second wife, Linda (Brenick) Burchfield of Logan on May 30, 1985. They were married 17 years and blessed him with a larger, very loving family of step children. He was also preceded in death by his sister-in-law, Hilda Harble of Lancaster; brother-in-law, Homer Michael Brenick; aunts, Dorothy Remy, Gladys Harper, Opal Hunter and Mary Jo Strickland; nephew, Skip Collins.
Larry was very active in service. He was a past president of Lincoln Village Lions of Columbus; member and past present of Lancaster Tarhe Lions; present for 9 years of Local 424 Upholsters and Steel workers union; treasurer of Simmons Co. Credit Union; health & welfare steward of Local 424 for 20 years; longtime member of Foresters Int. Fraternal Organization; member of Olivedale; honorary member of the D.A.V.
A sincere thank you to the entire staff at The Convalarium at Indian Run for their compassion and care provided to Larry and his family in his final days.
Visiting hours with the family will be 4pm-8pm at HALTEMAN-FETT & DYER FUNERAL HOME (436 N Broad St. Lancaster, Ohio 43130) on October 7, 2017 with a Lions memorial and prayer service to be held at the funeral home.
A church service will be held at Grace United Church of Christ on Sunday October 8, 2017 at 2:30 pm with Pastor Melinda Quellhorst officiating.
