She was born in Columbus, OH on September 6th, 1942 as the daughter of Clarence and Ruth (Thomas) Hale.
She was preceded in death by her husband, David E. Wright Sr. and her sister, Donna (Hale) Jacks.
She is survived by her brother, Neil (Arlene) Hale and their family; Sons – David (Cheree’) Wright II and Dr. Andrew (Christie) Wright; Grandchildren – Lacie (James) Mercer, Whitnie Wright, Shadon Wright, Logan Wright and Victoria Wright; and Great Grandchildren – Emma Mercer and Nova Mercer; Sisters-In-Law – Rachel (Larry) Stewart and Janet Wright; and a bouquet of nephews, nieces and lifetime friends that she loved and adored.
She was married to David Wright Sr. from 1961 until he passed away in September of 1985. She finished raising their two teenaged sons as a young widow at the age of 43 and lived out her ministry calling as a single woman until she met and married Pastor James Roger Farley in June of 2013 and moved to Syracuse, NY where she enjoyed a season of rich relationships with Roger and his adult children, Ellen (John) Raflowski, Philip (Jessica) Farley, and Sarah (David) Ravas and all the grandchildren and the congregation of Family Worship Center.
Joy was a woman with Roots and Wings: Roots as unbreakable devotion to God and her family; and Wings as an influencer whose life-journey in Christian ministry took her from her childhood in Lancaster, OH to Houston, Texas then to Nashville, Tennessee then to Cape Coral, Florida then to Sophia, Bulgaria then to Phoenix, Arizona and then, at the age of 55 (after starting Beyond The Borders – a Christian Ministry) Joy moved to serve people in Istanbul, Turkey through age 70 when she subsequently moved back to the United States to continue serving the people of the Middle East while living with her family in Phoenix, AZ; Twin Falls, ID; Phoenix, AZ; Syracuse, NY and finally finishing her race in the Phoenix Valley – all the while encouraging countless people around the nation and the world through her inspiring devotional posts on Facebook.
Joy was an amazing Relational Networker and Business Administrator serving many difference-making organizations through her journey including Texas Bible College (Houston), Truth Church (Ft. Worth), Church on the Rock (Rockwall), Christ Church and Global Network (Nashville), Christian Life Fellowship (Cape Coral), Wright Family Medicine (Phoenix) and others.
Joy’s was a life that made a difference.
Joy will be commemorated in three different parts of the country:
(Ohio) A Graveside service will be held on Saturday, July 24th at 11AM at the Carroll Cemetery (4485 Carroll Cemetery Rd, Carroll, OH 43112) followed by a light luncheon for those in attendance at New Life Church in Lancaster, OH.
(Arizona) A Celebration of Life service will be held on Saturday, August 7th at 11AM at Life Link Church (725 W. Warner Rd, Gilbert, AZ 85233)
(New York) A Commemorative event is being planned to serve those who know and love Joy in that region of the country (TBD)
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made through Life Link Church (https://app.securegive.com/lifelinkchurch/main and select Missions) for the benefit of the ministries she served in Turkey and the Middle East.
