Jack is survived by his wife of 70 years, Carol P. Hoyt, and his children and their partners: Jeffrey Hoyt of South Riding, Virginia; Brian and Pamela Hoyt of Lancaster, Ohio; Suzanne and Philip Mason of Westerly, Rhode Island; Karen and Douglas Watts of Providence, Rhode Island; and Rachel and Patrick Cagney of Westerly, Rhode Island. He is also survived by 11 grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren, and his brothers William Hoyt and David Hoyt.
Born and raised in Plainville, Connecticut, Jack was the son of John R. Hoyt and Edith Hotchkiss Hoyt. He served in the United States Army as a radio technician in the combat infantry in Korea, achieving the rank of Technical Sergeant and earning two bronze service stars before leaving service in 1955. After returning from Korea, he settled with his wife and family in South Windsor, Connecticut, where they lived for more than 20 years. They subsequently lived in Narragansett, Rhode Island and Dowling Park, Florida before moving to Lancaster, Ohio.
He earned a BS in engineering from the University of Hartford and an MBA from Roger Williams University. Over the course of his 54-year career in business management, he specialized in systems development and inventory control for a number of large and mid-sized East Coast manufacturing companies.
An avid fan of the UConn Huskies women’s basketball program, he was delighted to be able watch them win the 2025 NCAA championship. He will be missed by his family and friends.
The Hoyt family would like to acknowledge the courteous assistance of the Neptune Society and Halteman-Fett & Dyer Funeral Home.
