Emily was born on June 2, 1989 in Lancaster, Ohio to Paul R. Wymer and Cheryl K. (Brimner) Wymer. Growing up on the family farm, Emily had a knack of creating games to avoid doing her chores. When asked if the chores were done her two older brothers would often respond, “yes, because we worked while Emily played!” Knowing Emily was to know that she brought a sense of play to any situation, and she made sure that everyone was in on the fun.
Always focused on helping others, Emily started working as a lifeguard at the Lancaster Camp Grounds, then became a Phlebotomist in the Laboratory at Fairfield Medical Center. In 2012, Emily was admitted as a cadet at the Ohio State Patrol Academy. She then became a highway patrol auxiliary officer. In 2015 she proudly joined the Ohio State Patrol where she served nine years as a police officer.
Emily found great strength in her relationship with her Savior, Jesus Christ, and said that her life’s mission was to spread the Gospel to as many people as she could. She did this through praising the Lord with her beautiful voice, and going on mission trips to India in 2005, and Haiti and Hungary in 2006. Emily and her husband, Ryan, also served as pastors at Pentecost Faith Church in Nelsonville.
Emily always loved being outdoors, whether running, cycling, hiking, heading off to the lake with the RV, or planning a camping weekend for her nieces and nephews. She was always ready for the next adventure. She also enjoyed spending her time bringing beauty into the world through her woodworking projects, puzzles and intricate crafts; many of which were created as gifts for her loved ones.
With a lifelong love of animals, Emily cared for her many 4H projects, and had lots of kitty friends growing up. She especially loved her dogs Zeema, Chloe Mae and the newest member of the pack named Bell. However, Emily’s true passion in life was other people. She touched so many lives with her giving spirit, quiet kindness, and loving smile. She adored her friends and family and was always ready to make them laugh with a playful prank or bring a smile with a bizarre accent. She never missed an opportunity to bring her family together for a holiday or celebration, always with a new game, scavenger hunt or ball of saran wrapped treats ready to ensure everyone would be in for a good time. Emily had an ability to make others feel special in an immeasurable way; making a personalized gift, or offering the perfect hug at just the right time.
Emily treated her nieces and nephews like they were her children. She frequently attended their sporting events, birthdays, and other activities just to show how much she cared for them. She would constantly call just to check in, and get updated on the latest events going on in their lives. From taking them hiking, getting them into the Ohio State Fair, carving pumpkins, or getting them involved in her newest joke, Aunt Emily was such an integral part of all of their lives.
In addition to her parents, Emily is survived by her husband, Ryan C. Pinney; brothers, Jon (Judy) Wymer and Josh (Ryan) Laymon-Wymer; nieces, Julianna Manley, Layla Wymer, Allyson Pinney and Averi Pinney; and nephews, Gage Wymer, Lane Wymer, Trip Wymer, Matthew Pinney and Jacob Pinney.
