Beau Thorne, 24, of Lancaster, passed Monday, October 17, 2022 in Columbus, Ohio from complications with Acute Myeloid Leukemia. Beau was born January 22, 1998 in Lancaster, Ohio. Beau was a registered nurse who worked at Nationwide Children’s Hospital Pediatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU). Beau had a calling for helping others in their most vulnerable moments - both patients and their families. Beau was passionate about athletics: in high school, Beau had a successful athletic career in football, basketball, and baseball. His greatest high school goal was to be a four-year varsity letter winner in three different sports, and he accomplished it. His love for sports continued post-high school as he competed in CrossFit and played golf and softball recreationally. He was also an avid fan of the Texas Longhorns, the Indianapolis Colts, and the Cleveland Browns. In addition to sports, Beau loved cooking and grilling. Beau was one-of-a-kind. He had an excellent sense of humor; he was selfless as he was always willing to lend a hand; and he was extremely friendly by never knowing a stranger. Above all else, Beau loved his family and friends.
Beau is survived by his fiancé, McKenzie Ortiz and their dogs, Mayzie and Marlie; parents, Michael & Michelle (Buffy) Thorne; brother, Brent (Kristin) Thorne; sisters, Bailee (Zachary) Letourneau and Brooklyn (Abel) Abebe; nieces, Ayla Thorne and Zaylee Letourneau and nephew, Abraham Abebe; grandfather, Thomas Thorne; best friends, Jonah & Isaac Butts, Matthew Barry, and Chad Moore; and many other extended family and friends. Beau was preceded in death by grandmother, Peggy Thorne and grandparents, Vernon & Sandra Sheets.
Beau’s family wishes to leave you with this: Beau lived his life by setting goals and crushing them. We should all aspire to do the same.
A funeral service celebrating the life of Beau will be held 11:00 am Saturday October 22, 2022 at New Life Christian Center with cremation to follow. Visitation for friends and family will be 2 to 8 pm Friday October 21, 2022 at Halteman-Fett-Dyer Funeral Home.
