I met Ron roughly nine years ago when I started with Universal Protection, he was the Security Director for one of the largest sites in the City of Los Angeles at 333 S Hope or more notably known as Bank of America Plaza. 
 
When I started with Universal I had very little experience with a high-rise property such as this.  This site was a beast, it is 55 stories tall, has 1.3 million square feet of leasable space and the average floor is 26,000 square feet.   
 
One of my first mornings I was set to meet with the Director at the property (Ron) and admit I was a bit intimidated.  I didn't want to look like I knew nothing about a property such as this so I stayed up a large portion of the night reading and researching.  I had heard the director there ran a tight ship, and was one of the foremost experts in the industry.  Based on these statements I immediately assumed this person was one tough man.  I arrived the next morning and met Ron and he greeted me with a handshake, hug and yes the fist bump!
 
He then took me on one of the most informative walks that I have ever had at any property.  On that walk I didn't say much for two reasons, one I didn't need to and two I didn't want to embarrass myself. Even with all the research I had done and my background, Ron unknowingly showed me just how little I knew and I appreciated this like you cannot imagine. 
 
Over the years Ron became a friend and someone that was always there for me, as he was for everyone else.  I often found my way to his site on a rough day, just to chat with him for a few moments as his positive attitude and genuine smile were infectious; and professional advice were instrumental in my development as an individual. 
 
As an individual my goal is to support all those that work with or are around me, to ensure they have everything they need to be successful, never asking for anything in return.  These are all attributes that cannot be taught and I personally witnessed Ron living this in every one of his interactions every day.   
 
I don't know if this has ever happened to you but a few days after hearing of Ron's death I was in my car and out of nowhere a parabola that I had not heard since I was a child popped in my head.
 
(This is how I remember it)  A man walks to what he believes to be a deserted beach, and to his surprise when he crests the ridge sees that on the beach there are baby turtles hatching everywhere.  They are everywhere trying to make it to the water, this scene stretches on for as far as the eye can see.  As the scene unfolds, he sees that most of the baby turtles are not making it to the ocean as the predators are picking most off.  He continues walking down and as he reaches the beach itself seeing a single man hurriedly grabbing the little turtles and taking them to the water, quickly releasing them.  He approaches this man and questions Why there are too many predators, and too many turtles for you to make any difference here.  The man without stopping grabs another little one and releases it into the water saying only it mattered to that one.      
 
As this parabola popped into my mind, I instantly felt that I was one of those turtles that was touched and Ron was that man. Ron was a genuinely good man, he was a person that instantaneously made your day better no matter what you were dealing with. 
 
I will end on this note:
 
I watched you all today throughout the service and I saw Ron there, it was in the way that some walked, some talked, I witnessed his handshake to hug to fist bump and looking from the outside in I can tell you that Ron lives on in each of you (us). 
 
I was one of the fortunate ones that received the handshake, hug to bump whenever I saw him and will dearly miss our times together.  Thank you all for being his family, friends and carrying on his legacy.

My uncle, uncle Ron was a loving man he cared about his family, he cared about everyone ..I miss him so much ,it bring tears to my eyes that he's jus gone , but god has a better place for him ,may. He rest in peace ..I love my uncle

Ronald.  Words cannot express what I am feeling right now.  The night I received the news, the world seemed to stop.  I know you are in the arms of our Lord and Savior. Rest on my brother and tell daddy I said HELLO!

To my long time friend and brother . It's so hard to believe your your not with us anymore . You will ALWAYS be in our hearts and the wonderful memories we all shared will always be remembered.. Your Big cheesy smile , your Jokes and just the great company we shared ..You will truly be missed .love you my friend RIP until we meet again you great man of God...

Didn't get the chance to say goodbye, I think that's the part that hurts the most. It is a part of life and that is understood. You will definitely be missed!

My uncle, Uncle Ron touched so many lives. I believe he'd be honored to know just how many people cared about him. As long as I've known him (my entire life) he always had an infectious laugh and showed deep concern for whatever concerned you. I've laughed with him and at him, as many may know, he was quite the character. I've celebrated him, and had seen so much of the wonderful personality of my Uncle Ron. He never showed differences but was consistent with all of his nieces and nephews. He took the time to travel to Michigan when I married my husband. He bonded with him and welcomed him into our family. At my reception Uncle Ron was the photographer, host, comedian and just my Uncle Ron. Later, he took the time to compile all of my photos on a disc that he mailed to me and the disc remains near and dear to my heart. It was during his visit that I felt an even greater closeness to him. We talked about God and what it meant to be family. Uncle Ron will forever remain in our hearts. Lovingly, NeNe
