Marguerite, the 5th of 10 children was born to parents, Annie Matthews Johnson and Harrison Johnson, Sr. on June 18, 1928 in Jonesville, Catahoula Parish. Marguerite or “Reese,” as she was affectionately known to her family, was a member of St. Mark Missionary Baptist Church where she attended until her health failed. Marguerite worked several jobs including Catahoula Parish Hospital, Edwards Motel and for Dr. Kavin J. Johnson, MD – Internal Medicine. Marguerite enjoyed life. She loved dressing up and she loved her family. She always had her bags ready to travel with her children and grandchildren. Marguerite, due to health reasons had to be relocated to Texas with her children in 2013. She resided in Friendswood and the Texas City location. Marguerite’s journey of life was completed on Saturday, May 28th at the age of 87 at her residence in Texas City. Marguerite was preceded in death by her parents, her sisters Tiny, Cora and Elouise along with brothers Willie Sr., Joe and Arthur Lee and her oldest, beloved son, Darnell along with one grandson, Leonard. Marguerite leaves two loving sisters, Carrie from Houston and Norma (TJ), Tacoma and a baby brother who always brightened her day, Harrison Jr.(Emma) from Galveston. Marguerite also leaves to cherish her memories six devoted children: Patricia, Barbara Brackins(Chicago); Connie (Rev. Sanders); Charlene (Garland Sr.); Cedric (Sugarland) and Terry(Maryland). Marguerite legacy continues with her grandchildren Angela, Charmaine, Chantel, Annyce, Garland II, Brandon Sanders(Texas City), Keith, Grayland Barrett(Friendswood), Kameron and Vonta and great-grandchildren CaBrion, D’Nya, Si Niya and King. Marguerite leaves a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
