On Mach 20, 1984, a baby boy was born in San Francisco, California to James and Cynthia Burnett. They named this blessing, Jonathan Antwaan Burnett. At an early age, Jonathan was baptized Catholic and became a member of Visitation Valley Church. At the age of 5, he moved to Texas City , TX, where he attended Simms Elementary, La Marque Middle School, La Marque Junior High, and Texas City High School. All through his school years, Jonathan was an A student and an athlete, playing football, track & field, and the love of his life, basketball. He received a basketball scholarship each year he attended college, at three different campuses, Lamar University, Houston Baptist College and Lewis Clark State College in Lewiston, ID, where he earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in 2009. Jonathan moved to Washington in 2011 and worked to be a better person and acquire a better life for himself. He was employed at United Parcel Service, 24 Hour Fitness, refereed little league basketball and football games, and other jobs while living there. He loved, shared, cared, and reach out to others in need. He was very friendly, outgoing, and had a great sense of humor. He was planning to be married August 1, 2015. He will be remembered for being one of the best basketball players to come out of Galveston County, his bow ties, wonderful smile/laugh, telling jokes, and mentoring of others. Jonathan departed his earthly life June 12, 2015 at the age of 31 years old. He leaves to cherish his memory, his fiancé, Renee and daughter Ebony Walton, Kent, WA; his grandmother, Evelyn Pierre, Texas City, TX; mother and father, James and Cynthia, Texas City, TX; a brother, James (Melanie) Burnett III, Dickinson, TX; sister Stephanie (Joseph) Davis, Orlando, FL; three aunts, Cheryl (Bill) Mayberry, Atlanta, GA; Debra Hilt, San Francisco, CA; Katina (Nicholas) Woo, The Bronx, NY; first cousins Chotsani, Sydney, Caitlin, and Jason; nieces, Brooklyn and Jaelyn, and the bloodline of the Burnett, Giger, Pierre and Rice families. Also survived by a host of cousins, other relatives and devoted friends, Pierre Taylor, Ruschelle Washington, Adrian Mack, Michael Stubblefield, and many, many more.
