William F. "Bill" Stout, 88 of Lakewood, NJ died Tuesday, August 25, 2015 at his home after a long illness. He was born and raised in Raritan Twp., NJ, now known as Edison Twp., and resided there until 1983, when he retired and moved to Naples, FL. He moved to Leisure Village East, Lakewood, NJ in the year 2000.
He was employed by Edison Twp. for 33 years, retiring in 1983 from the Public Works Dept. as Supt. of the Sewer Dept. He was affectionately nicknamed "Buffalo" by his co-workers and friends. He was a volunteer and life member of the Raritan Eng. Co. #1 Fire Dept. He was a 62 year member of Palestine Lodge #111 F. & A.M. and a past member of the Cedars of Lebanon and Sidonians.
He served and saw active duty in World War II with the Navy Seabees, Battalion #147 on Okinawa and China. He was a member of the VFW Post 10185 in Toms River, NJ. While living in Leisure Village East, he participated as a member of the Men's Club and Men's Golf Club. He attended worship at St. George’s Anglican Church, Helmetta, NJ.
He was predeceased by his parents, Clarence and Anna Stout, brothers, John E. Stout and C. Richard Stout, and sisters, Elizabeth Ann Stout Stewart and Elaine Stout Coyne.
Surviving is his wife of 63 years, Eva Wideberg Stout, daughter Bonnie Stout Rumpf and her husband Robert of Plainsboro, NJ, son, William N. Stout of Howell, NJ, three grandchildren, Heather Rumpf Fox and husband Matt of Ruskin, FL, Ashley Rumpf of Plainsboro, NJ, and Paige Stout of Howell, NJ, three great-granddaughters, Adriana, Olivia and Chloe Fox of Ruskin, FL. Also surviving is his brother, J. Kenneth Stout of Surprise, AZ and a sister, Marie Stout Zabczyk and husband Jake of Surprise, AZ, a sister-in-law, Marie (Bettie) Linke and husband Thomas Linke of Monroe, NJ along with many nieces and nephews.
A Celebration of Life gathering will be held at the D'Elia Funeral Home, 1300 Vermont Ave., Lakewood, NJ, on Thursday from 2-4 & 7-9PM. Burial and military honors will take place on Friday at 11AM at the Brigadier Gen. William C. Doyle Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Wrightstown, NJ.
