Virginia Mascali

Virginia Mascali, 85, of Lakewood passed away peacefully on Wednesday, August 7, 2024. Virginia was loyal, loving, and a joy to all who ever met her. She would light up rooms with her laugh and would do anything for her family.

Virginia was born in Brooklyn on October 9, 1938. The youngest of eight siblings, she was forever the baby but found best friendships with her siblings and her nieces.

Virginia and Dennis fell in love on August 9, 1957 and married on April 8, 1961. Married over 60 years, they were the truest of true loves. Rarely not at each other's sides, they showed everyone around them what it meant to not only be husband and wife but best friends. With more adventures, loves, and memories than you can count, few compare to the life they built together.

She was the original stay at home mom who would do anything for her four sons while they grew up in Brooklyn, NY and later Sayreville, NJ. She made the best cream puffs, manicotti, carbonara, and the occasional 125 taco dinner. You would never leave Virginia’s house without a very full stomach and the biggest smile.

She was graced with three wonderful daughter-in-laws that she treated like her own. Becoming another mother to each of them and welcoming them into the family with open arms.

Along with being a wonderful mother and wife, Virginia thrived in being a Grandmother to her eight grandchildren. She always had a stock of Gushers and never failed to ensure they were wearing socks in the house. Virginia created lifelong memories for her grandchildren. Holidays were always made special, filled with love and laughter in the Mascali house. She would never admit a favorite, and maybe change it day by day, but truly loved each of her grandchildren more than we could ever explain. She was lucky enough to fall in love with two perfect great-grandchildren as well.

Virginia and Dennis loved to spend their days traveling, together they visited Thailand, China, South Africa, Croatia, Aruba, and more. Virginia loved to see the world and experience all it had to offer. Riding elephants and walking The Great Wall of China were just a couple of her amazing adventures. Virginia’s favorite trips were always with family. With many trips to Villa Roma Resort and nine trips to the Outer Banks, NC, she enjoyed lounging by the water with good food and a good drink.

She loved to play games. An avid card player, Virginia also loved to learn games like beer pong, flip cup, and beer ball with her grandchildren. When she wasn’t playing, she loved to sit and watch her whole family having the time of their lives.

Always ending the days with the biggest hug and kiss, you truly felt the love Virginia had for the people around her. She will be incredibly missed by all who knew and loved her.

Virginia is survived by her beloved husband Dennis and four sons: Mario and his wife Roberta of Brick, Dennis and his wife Sandy of Monroe, Joseph of Sayreville, and Richard and his wife Lori Jo of Howell. She will be dearly missed by her loving grandchildren: Megan with Husband Kenny, Jesse, Dennis, Nicole with Fiance Matt, Kaitlyn, Erika, Julia, Jack and great-grandchildren, Everly and Kenny.
