Born in London, England on October 16th, 1935, he immigrated to the United States in 1947. He grew up in Yonkers, NY and graduated from Charles E. Gorton High School, class of 1954.
After graduation, he enlisted in the US Army, and honorably served our country from 1958 - 1960. Upon returning home from Ft. Benning, he married his wife, Elizabeth "Tish" (Lindberg) King.
He went on to become a master plumber, graduating from the Mechanics Institute in April 1964. He worked in the New York local before transferring to the Plumbers and Pipefitters Local Union 9 in Englishtown, NJ, where he worked for the rest of his career, and the last 16 years for the George A. Yetka Company in Shrewsbury, NJ.
Tom and Tish raised their two sons, Tommy and Brian, in Point Pleasant Beach, where they lived for 23 years before settling in the Four Seasons Community of Lakewood. There, he was an avid golfer and was involved in Irish-American Club, Bocce, and many other social activities. He was also a fan of the Celtic Futbol Club, Brooklyn Dodgers, NY Mets, and Notre Dame football.
He was predeceased by his loving wife of 47 years, Tish.
Surviving are his sons: Thomas J. King and Brian S. King, MD, and his wife Jackie; 4 grandchildren: Thomas, Connor, Cassie, and Rory; an aunt, Nan Devlin; a brother-in-law, Henry Lindberg; a step-mother-in-law, Resi Lindberg; and many other extended family members.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday October 25th from 3-7 PM at the D'Elia Funeral Home, 1300 Vermont Ave., Lakewood.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the American Heart Association.
