Born in Allentown, PA, where he completed high school, he went on to join the Navy and trained to work in automotive mechanics. He then resided in the Bronx, NY before settling in Lakewood in 1971. While in the Bronx, he worked on the railroad and in the NYC Post Office. Most recently, he worked for the Lakewood Board of Education as a custodian before retiring.
Surviving are his loving wife of over 40 years, Anna M. Harvey; 2 sons: Mark & Ivan Harvey; 17 grandchildren; and 8 great-grandchildren.
Samuel was a member of the Greater Bethel Church of God in Christ in Lakewood. He was also a resident of the Leisure Village East Community.
Funeral services will be held on Thursday at 11:30AM at D’Elia Funeral Home, 1300 Vermont Ave., Lakewood. A gathering will be held before the service at 10AM.
