Michael was born in Manhattan, New York to the late John and Ellen Gillen.
Michael was a graduate of Xavier High School and later Brooklyn College with a degree in Accounting.
Michael had a lifelong career on Wall Street and honorable served his country as a Marine in the Korean War in which he was awarded serval Battle Stars.
He survived by his beloved Wife; Alice, his 2 children; Thomas Gillen (Maureen) and John Gillen (Alison), his loving grandchildren; Breanna, Michael, Elizabeth and Mary, and many dear friends.
Michael enjoyed golfing and spending time with family and friends. His memory will live on through the ones he loved the most.
A Memorial Service will be held on Wednesday June 7th from 3:00 pm - 7:00pm at D'Elia Funeral Home; 1300 Vermont Ave, Lakewood, NJ 08701
A Funeral Home service will start at 3:30 pm on Wednesday June 7th.
Michael will be laid to rest at 11:00am on Thursday, June 8, 2023 at the Brigadier General William C. Doyle Memorial Cemetery with Military Honors.
