Mary N. Carlson, 95, passed away March 9, 2013 at Community Medical Center in Toms River. Mrs. Carlson was born in Helmetta, raised in Freehold where she attended the area schools, moving to Lakewood for many years before settling in Toms River for the past 10 years. Mary was a poster girl for the War Bonds during World War II and worked as a nurse’s aide. She volunteered and drove a truck for the Red Cross Motor Services. Mary was a past member of the Ladies Auxiliary Reliance Hose Co. No. 4 and worked at the Rectory of St. Mary of the Lake Church in Lakewood. She was an avid traveler with her late husband with their motor home. She also was an avid Bridge player and was very skilled. Her true joy in life was her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She was a loving mother, grandmother, and great grandmother and will be greatly missed by all. Mrs. Carlson is predeceased by her husband of 56 years, Gilbert J., son Gilbert R. Carlson, sisters, Jennie Justice, Amelia Thompson, Madeline Murphy, Antoinette Myers, Frances Narozonick, and Joan Narozonick, brothers, Leonard Narozonick, and Richard Narozonick and parents Alice Dzielak and Stanley Narozonick. Mary is survived by her brother, George Narozonick and his wife Viola of Olympia, WA, daughter, Regina Foster and her husband Robert of Richmond, VA, son, Robert Carlson and his wife Susan of Bayville, NJ, Daughter in law, Susan Emmons Carlson of Bayville, NJ, Grandchildren, Michael Foster and his wife Elizabeth, Peter Foster, Renee Capasso and her husband Justin, Kristin Filler and her husband Justin, Kyle Carlson and Bryan Carlson, great grandchildren, Catherine, Matthew and William Foster, Sophia , Olivia, and Andria Capasso, Landon and Brody Filler.. Friends may call Tuesday, March 12, 2013 from 3-7 pm at the D’Elia Funeral Home Rt. 70 & Vermont Ave. Lakewood, NJ 08701. Funeral Mass will be held on Wednesday, March 13, 2013 at 12 Noon at the St. Mary of the Lake Church in Lakewood. Interment will take place at St. Mary of the Lake Cemetery in Lakewood.
