He was the son of the late Laurence Sr. and Myrtle Rozier and the dear brother of the late Almira (Ellie) and Sterling.
He was the devoted father to daughter, Lanette, and son, Laurence III, with his former spouse, Elizabeth, as well as the loving grandfather to Terence (Nicole), Alana (David), Trevor (Arivee), Tawnee (Lance), Jameise, and Timothy, as well as six great-grandchildren--Chloe, Ulysses, Julian, Maya, Olivia, and Thalia.
Laurence was born in Baltimore, Maryland on October 14, 1926, and moved to Lakewood, New Jersey at the age of nine. Laurence attended Lakewood High School and joined the Air Force after graduation. After leaving the Air Force, he began working for the United States Post office and worked his way up to Postmaster for Sea Girt, NJ. An entrepreneur at heart, Laurence also owned several local businesses throughout his life, including a floor cleaning and waxing service. After retiring from the Post Office, Laurence pursued a second career as a realtor. Laurence always enjoyed giving back to the community and was involved with many local organizations, including the Lakewood Township Planning Board and the Kiwanis Club.
Laurence was a kind man who was universally respected and admired. The most important thing to Laurence was his family and he will be deeply missed by his family, friends, and all who knew him.
A viewing will be held at D’Elia Funeral Home in Lakewood on Saturday, October, 15th from 10:00-11:30am. A funeral mass will follow at 12pm at Saint Mary of the Lake Church in Lakewood.
