Joyce Sousa

Joyce Sousa, age 79, of the Original Leisure Village section of Lakewood, passed away Wednesday, June 29, 2011 at her residence. Born in Hinesville, GA, she was resident of Lakewood for the last 14 years. Mrs. Sousa was a former resident of Savannah, GA, Bricktown, NJ, and Old Bridge, NJ. Joyce was a retired professional court transcriber. Wife of the late Daniel Sousa who passed away in 2000, she was predeceased by her son Barry in 1994. Joyce is survived by, two sons, Michael A. Sousa and John D. Sousa and his wife Donna; three grandchildren, Patricia, Tyler and Jeremy; and two brothers, James and Gary Smiley. Visitation will be Friday from 2 to 4 & 6 to 8 p.m. at the D’Elia Funeral Home, Rte. 70 & Vermont Ave., Lakewood, NJ 08701. Her funeral mass will be celebrated 12:00 p.m. Saturday at the Holy Family Church, 1139 East County Line Rd., Lakewood, NJ 08701. Committal services will be private. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society, PO Box 7, East Syracuse, NY 13057.
