Born in Trenton on October 2, 1941, he was a resident of Lakewood for 43 years until relocating to Manchester two years ago. Joe was a beloved husband, father, and grandfather. He was an Educator for the Lakewood Township Board of Education, retiring in 2003 after 40 years of service. He was the former president of the Lakewood Blackhawks. Joe was a member of the Men’s Club at River Pointe, and a 35 year participant in the Tuesday Night Card Game. He was a horse racing enthusiast and enjoyed the activities associated with the River Pointe Club House. He also enjoyed spending time with his family and watching his grandchildren grow.
Son of the late Esther (Darrigrand) & Hugh J. Bryce; brother of the late Dennis & Arthur Bryce; and grandfather of the late Ethan Joseph Bryce, Joe is survived by his beloved wife of 46 years Helen M. (Repko) Bryce; 3 sons, Michael Bryce & his wife Hillary of Jackson, Joseph Bryce & his fianceé Kristin Jones of Odenton, MD, Kevin Bryce & his wife Jennifer of Clifton, NJ; brother Hugh & his wife Carol of Hamilton, NJ; 2 sisters, Linda Stoop & her husband Furman of Jobstown and Kathleen Bryce of Hamilton; two sisters-in-law, Kathleen Bryce of Egg Harbor Twp., and Kathleen Devonshire & her husband Joseph of Titusville, NJ; a mother-in-law, Helen Repko of Trenton; 6 grandchildren, Joey, Madison, Michael, Juliet, William, & Emma; and many nieces, nephews, other relatives, friends, and neighbors.
Visitation will be Wednesday from 2 to 4 p.m. & 7 to 9 p.m. at the D’Elia Funeral Home, Route 70 & Vermont Ave., Lakewood, NJ 08701. His funeral liturgy will be celebrated 11 a.m. Thursday in St. John’s Church, 619 Chestnut Street, Lakehurst, NJ 08733. Interment will be private.
