John Spagnolo, 71, passed away October 2, 2012 at his home in Lakewood. Mr. Spagnolo was born and raised in New York City. He served in the United States Air Force during the Vietnam conflict, entering at age 17 and retiring after 20 years of service. John was a recruiter for EDG, Taylor Business Institute, Brick Computer Science Institute, and later worked as a car sales man for Pine Belt and Edines Auto in Toms River. He served as a Eucharistic minister for St. Mary of the Lake Church. John enjoyed taking cruises with his wife and was an avid Giants and Mets fan. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, and brother and will be greatly missed by all. Mr. Spagnolo is predeceased by his two brothers Frank and Joseph Forte. John is survived by his wife of 50 years Catherine, three children, Mary Massaro and her husband Tom, Anne Burr and her husband Kirk, and John Spagnolo and his wife Cidalia, five grandchildren, Emily, Max, Morgan, Abby, and Cullen, and sister, Vincenza. Friends may call Thursday, October 4, 2012 from 2-4 and 7-9 pm at the D’Elia Funeral Home Rt. 70 & Vermont Ave. Lakewood, NJ 08701. Funeral Mass will be held on Friday, October 5, 2012 at Noon at the St. Mary of the Lake Church in Lakewood. Interment will take place at St. Mary of the Lake Cemetery in Lakewood. In lieu of flowers please make donations in John’s memory to the St. Vincent DePaul Society in the St. Mary of the Lake Church in Lakewood.
