Harold Alan Kessler, 89, of Lakewood, died on October 25, 2011. Mr. Kessler was born on August 16, 1922 in Passaic, New Jersey. He attended Bucknell College until he served in the United States Army during World War II. After returning from his service in Europe, he received his undergraduate degree from the University of Colorado and later a master’s degree in education from then Trenton State Teachers’ College. He owned and operated Kessler Lumber Company in Paterson and then in Jackson Township. He later taught special education, drivers’ education and photography in the Lakewood school system. He was a noted photographer, establishing numerous local camera clubs and being elected as a member of the Photographic Society of America. He was predeceased by his wife, Anita, in 2010. He is survived by his two sons, Kenneth (Nancy) and Donn (Marilyn Mitchell), three grandsons, Brian and Timothy Kessler and Jeffrey Lipschultz (Naomi), two great grandsons (Ari and Alexander Lipschultz) and sister, Carol Lampke (Alan). A Memorial service will be held on Sunday November 13th at 12:00pm, D’Elia Funeral Home, Rt. 70& Vermont Ave, Lakewood, NJ 08701.
