

Gerda “Lola” Lowenstein, 87, passed away January 11, 2016 at her home in Brick, NJ. Mrs. Lowenstein was born in Berlin, Germany and moved to England where she was adopted by a family as part of the Kinder Transport Program. She attended school in the English education system before moving to the United States after World War II. Lola owned and operated various businesses through the years and for over 30 years she volunteered at the Jersey Shore Animal Center Thrift Shop. Gerda was an avid animal lover, loved basking in the sun and most importantly spending time with her grandchildren. She was a loving mother, grandmother, great grandmother and aunt and will be greatly missed by all. Mrs. Lowenstein is predeceased by her husband Bodo, grandson Jay Hochberg and sister Peggy Rogers. Lola is survived by her children Edith Hochberg and her husband Marty, Peter Lowenstein and his wife Jan and Ava White and her husband Chuck, grandchildren, Heather Garrett and her husband Neal, Tyler White and his wife Becky, Brandais White, Zachary, Travis and Sydney Lowenstein, great grandchildren, Ilan and Zinnia Garrett, cousin, Evelyn Paswall and her beloved Terrier Mitzi. Funeral Service will be held on Friday, January 15, 2016 10:30a at the Ocean County Memorial Park Cemetery 1722 Silverton Road Toms River, NJ. Entombment will take place at Ocean County Memorial Park, in Toms River. Arrangements are under the direction of the D’Elia Funeral Home 1300 Vermont Ave. Lakewood, NJ 08701.
