Fran was born to Mary and Edward Scott in the Bronx, NY on Little Christmas, January 6th. She graduated from Saint Barnabas High School and received a Bachelor of Science degree in Nursing from the College of Staten Island. She enjoyed her 23-year nursing career at Bayley Seton Hospital in Staten Island, while raising an extensive family.
She married John J. Harold on April 21, 1956 and they celebrated 46 years of marriage.
Fran was a devote Catholic and dedicated her life to her family. She was a loving mother, grandmother, and loyal friend. Fran cherished her family and her greatest joy was spending time with her brothers and sisters and their spouses, children and grandchildren, nieces and nephews, and her supportive friends in Staten Island and in the Greenbriar Woodlands community. She enjoyed traveling, playing tennis and pickleball, swimming, and playing cards with her girlfriends. Her greatest reprieve was at the Jersey Shore or at the Woodlands Pool.
Fran is predeceased by her husband John J. Harold, parents Mary and Edward Scott, sister Joan, brother Edward, and daughter-in-law Tracy and son John.
She leaves behind her brother Anthony and wife Jane; sisters-in-law Grace and Elaine; daughters, Mary, Eileen Smith and husband Bob, and Susan; sons John and wife Jennifer, Edward, and Richard and wife Regina; grandchildren Sean, Brendan, Sarah, Richard, Jaelyn, Brenna and John; and many nieces and nephews. Our hearts will be forever broken and she will be deeply missed.
We find comfort knowing that those we love don’t go away with death. They walk besides us everyday… unseen, unheard, but always near…still loved, still missed and always dear.
A Mass will be celebrated on Monday, September 12th at 10:30AM at St. Luke Roman Catholic Church, 1674 Old Freehold Road, Toms River, NJ 08755 followed by a burial at 1:00PM at Brigadier General William C. Doyle Veterans Memorial Cemetery, 350 Province Line Road, Wrightsville, NJ 08562.
