Evelyn T Fahey

Evelyn T. Fahey, 94, of Lakewood, NJ, passed away on June 28, 2023, at Ocean Medical Center in Brick after a long struggle with pulmonary diseases. She was surrounded by loved ones at the time of her passing.

Evelyn was born on February 7, 1929, in Ballindine, County Mayo, Ireland to Martin and Winifred Devane. When she was 20 in 1949, she joined her sister, Nora, in Jersey City to begin a new life in America. Both worked with their aunts, Helen and Catherine, in New York City throughout the early to mid-1950s.

Experiencing “it’s a small world” during a getaway weekend to the Catskills, Evelyn ran into her neighbor from Ireland, Tom Fahey; they wed in 1956, going on to raise three children, Elaine, John, and Kieran in Plainview, Long Island. They retired to Mill Rift, Pennsylvania, but after a few severe winters opted for Florida and Arizona. She eventually returned to New Jersey.

Evelyn was the foundation of our family. She loved to be in the thick of family and friends, knew how to make you laugh, loved holidays, and was always ready to get in the car and go, no matter where. Her summer garden of pansies was her pride and joy. Evelyn always propped up and supported her family through many successes and challenges; she was our constant cheerleader and supporter, a true warrior.

Evelyn was predeceased by her husband, Tom, and granddaughter, Devon. She is survived by her three children Elaine Fahey, John Fahey, and Kieran Fahey (Wendy), and grandchildren Erin and Thomas, and great-grandson, James.

There will be no viewing. A memorial service will be held at the convenience of the family.
