Charles George McDevitt, 86, was born on June 24, 1932, to Mary and Dominick McDevitt in Bayonne, NJ. He attended St. Vincent's Grammar School, Bayonne High School, and Middlesex County College achieving two degrees. He was a Marine Sergeant during the Korean Conflict. After receiving an honorable discharge from the US Marines, he was married for 65 years to his high school sweetheart, Jean Patmore. He also served as a police officer with The Port Authority of NY/NJ and retired in 1974 as a Sergeant. He also worked for the State of NJ for 21 years and retired in 2000. He is predeceased by his mother, Mary and his father, Dominick. He is survived by his wife Jean and his sister Anne O'Leary. He is also survived by seven children, his sons, Charles Jr. and wife, Amy, John, William and wife, Anne, Robert and wife, Roberta, Michael and wife, Mary and daughters Nancy and husband, Richard and Kathleen. He is also survived by 12 Grandchildren, Christopher, CJ, Kyle, Lauren, Tom, Brian, Shawn, David, Matthew, Jason, Katie, and Kelly. He is also survived by 3 Great Grandchildren, Brooke, Hunter, and Charlie. There will be a Memorial Mass (no wake) at St. Dominic's Church at 250 Old Squan Road, Brick, NJ at 9 a.m. on Saturday morning, December 22. Donations to St. Jude's Children's Hospital in lieu of flowers.
