Born and raised in Kearney, NJ; Mr. Skinner lived in Oakhurst for 40 years, Scotch Plains for 20 years and Toms River for the past 14 years.
He served in the Army Signal Corps as a 1st sergeant in Germany during the Korean War. He was an All State Basketball player for Kearney High, and a member of St. Andrew’s Methodist Church in Toms River. He was employed for 43 years as a Division Line Supervisor for PSE&G in Clifton, NJ retiring in 1991. Alex enjoyed spending time with his family and friends, and could be found playing horseshoes, bowling or watching the Yankees or Giants. He loved talking to his grandkids and enjoyed hearing about their achievements. Alex was loved by so many folks and will be missed greatly by his family and friends.
He is survived by his loving wife Ruth (Klebsattel) of 58 years, his 3 daughters Diane Thompson and her husband Walter of Orting, WA, Sandra Breuche and her husband Ronald of Old Bridge, NJ, Susan Skinner of Mount Airy MD, his brother Daniel of Oakhurst, NJ, and his 3 grandchildren Courtney, Jonathan, and Sean, and several nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held Monday November 7th from 3 to 6pm with the service immediately following at the Delia Funeral Home, Rt. 70 & Vermont Ave; Lakewood, NJ 08701.
In lieu of flowers donations may be made in Mr. Skinners’ name to St. Andrew’s Methodist Church 1528 Church Road Toms River, NJ 08755.
