Silvino Ernest (Ernie) Martinez, 81, passed away on May 25, 2018 at Belleview Alzheimer’s Care Center in Aurora, Colorado. He was the husband of Mary Martinez. They shared 61 years of marriage together.
Born in Salida, Colorado, he was the son of Ernest and E smith Martinez. He graduated from Red Cliff Union High School in Redcliff, Colo. He worked for the Waste Water Treatment Facility as an Industrial Mechanic and retired after 32 years of service.
He was a member of Faith Bible Chapel where he was baptized in 2016. He and his wife were long time members of a Mexican Folk Dancing group and performed all over Colorado for numerous events and venues. He enjoyed dancing to Mexican music and could be seen with his wife most weekends at local Mexican music dance clubs or up the “hill” doing…you know what! He enjoyed spending time with his grandkids fishing, camping and boating. He was quite active in his healthy years and loved hunting, bowling, skiing and walking around Rocky Mountain Lake with his fur buddy Chico. His pride and joy was his family!
He is survived by his wife Mary Martinez, daughters Kathy Montesino and Denice Sandoval (Joe), grandsons Daniel Montesino, Darren Martinez (Monica) and Donovan Martinez (Amanda), great grandsons Anthony and Dominic, great granddaughters Dominique, Kaylean and Princess Jhene. Survived by brother, Lawrence (Buddy) Martinez (Dow), sisters, Martha Padilla (Maggie) and Elizabeth Schmitt. He was predeceased by his long time fur companion Chico.
The memorial service will be held on June 5, 2018 at 10 am at Faith Bible Chapel, 6250 Wright St, Arvada, Co. 80004, with reception following from Noon to 5pm at Lamar Street Center, 5889 Lamar St, Arvada, Co. 80003.
