It is with immense sadness that I formally announce that my mother, Mercedes Gallegos de Vasquez, crossed over peacefully, with Loved Ones at her side. My mother lived a fruitful life and she is preceded in death by her parents, Merced y Maria De La Luz Vasquez de Resendiz and her only son, Miguel Jose Ponciano Gallegos. Leaving behind her daughter Cynthia R. L. S. Gallegos, grandson Edward Brian Gonzales III oldest sister, Carmen (Alfonzo), Sophie (Louis), George, Mario (Margene), Fernando (Diana), Anna (Tony), Roberto (Linda), Olga (Richard) and her goddaughter Diana Michelle (Morise). She had many nieces, nephews, and several great-nieces and nephews.
Mercedes was born in Salvatierra Guanajuato, Mexico in 1943 and migrated to the United States in 1953. She lived in Albuquerque, New Mexico for a majority of her young life, and ventured out to Colorado at the ripe age of 21 years old. She was introduced to my father prior to his deployment to Vietnam as a Navy sailor in 1966.
