James "Jim" Allen Bland, a dedicated educator, loving husband, and cherished father, passed away on May 15, 2024, leaving behind a legacy of kindness, devotion, and joy. Born on March 31, 1944, in Denver, Colorado, Jim was the beloved son of Harry and Julia Bland.
Jim's journey in education spanned over four decades, leaving an indelible mark on countless lives. He graduated from East High School, Augustana College, and earned his Masters Degree from the University of Northern Colorado. For over 30 years, he served as a compassionate teacher, specializing in special education. Even after retiring from full-time teaching, Jim continued to impact students' lives as a substitute teacher for another decade, predominantly at Fletcher Miller in Jefferson County Schools.
Outside the classroom, Jim found his greatest joy in family and faith. At Our Savior Lutheran Church, where he met the love of his life, Jacque, Jim's gentle spirit and unwavering devotion shone brightly. They exchanged vows on June 16, 1973, embarking on a journey of love and companionship that spanned over 50 years. Holding Jacque's hand was one of his favorite pastimes, a simple gesture that spoke volumes of their deep connection.
In his leisure time, Jim indulged in hobbies that brought him immense pleasure. Whether it was collecting stamps, avidly following Denver sports teams, or meticulously working on puzzles, Jim found solace and contentment in these activities. His passion for life extended to his family, nurturing a love for music in his daughters, Karen and Kari, and instilling a reverence for spirituality and the Bible in his loved ones.
Jim's warm smile and infectious enthusiasm for life will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him. He is preceded in death by his parents, Harry and Julia Bland. Jim is survived by his devoted wife, Jacque; loving children, Kari Marie and Karen (Adam); cherished grandchildren, Nathan (Kami), Katryna, and Daniel; caring brothers, Harold (Jan) and Dick; as well as 12 nieces and nephews, and a host of extended family and friends.
As we mourn Jim's passing, let us also celebrate the remarkable legacy of love, kindness, and dedication he leaves behind. A memorial service will be held on Friday, June 28, 2024 at 2PM, followed by a committal and reception, all at Atonement Lutheran Church in Lakewood, Colorado.
