Harriett Keepers, beloved mother, grandmother, sister, and friend, passed away peacefully on February 26, 2024, leaving behind a legacy of kindness, dedication, and love.
Born on November 7, 1941, in the small town of Del Norte, Colorado, Harriett grew up with strong family values and a deep sense of community. She graduated high school in 1959 and pursued her passion for organization and service at Park School of Business, where she trained to become an administrative assistant. Throughout her career, she dedicated herself to both the health field and the school system, always bringing warmth, efficiency, and compassion to her work.
On November 7, 1964, Harriett married Gordon Keepers, whom she later divorced. She was a devoted mother to her two daughters, Kimberly Ann Keepers (born February 24, 1968) and Kristy Lynn Keepers (born July 13, 1974). Family was the heart of Harriett’s world, and she cherished every moment spent with her loved ones.
Harriett’s life was filled with purpose and joy. She was an active member of many organizations, including the Camp Fire Girls, where she led her daughters in countless adventures, the PEO Sisterhood, the Red Hat Society, and the Women’s Bean Project. Her enthusiasm for community and service was evident in all she did.
An avid reader, Harriett could often be found lost in the pages of a good murder mystery. She treasured time with friends, whether it was playing cards, engaging in church groups, or taking cherished trips to Breckenridge with her church community. She had a gift for bringing people together and creating joyful gatherings, filling every space with warmth and laughter.
Harriett is preceded in death by her parents, Bernice and John (Jack). She is lovingly remembered and survived by her brothers, Robert (Bob) and Richard (Dick); her daughters, Kimberly Schafer (Rick) and Kristy Hyatt (J.R.); and her five cherished grandchildren—Gannon, Payton, Amber, Bethany, and Dakota.
Her life was one of love, faith, and friendship, and she will be deeply missed by all who knew her. A service to celebrate Harriett’s life will be held at St. James Presbyterian Church, 3601 W. Bellview Ave, Littleon, CO 80123 on Saturday, March 22, 2025 1:00 pm. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made in her honor to the Alzheimer's Foundation.
Harriett’s legacy lives on in the hearts of those she touched, and her spirit will forever be a guiding light for her family and friends.
