Cecil was such a warm, friendly and caring individual.  I worked at the bank where he bailed me out on several occasions.  He had so much love for his wife, Pat, and his kids along with his love of the Lord.   
A truly awesome man.  A life to be celebrated in every way.

Cecil told me this and laughed. He thought it was great.  He came over to meet the family and when he left Pat said "see Mom I told you he was tall dark and handsome"  Mom replied " Well, he is tall and dark"!  Cecil showed me what a brother was suppose to be like. He was always loving and supportive of everyone.  When my mom passed, I was standing by her grave not wanting to cry. Cecil came up to me and gave me a hug and asked if I was okay. I told him I hated being a orphan. He replied that I was not a orphan because I had Pat and him to fill in!!! I love him and miss him everyday.

Hello all, this is Marie Newell. Cecil Newell’s granddaughter. I was told by the family to upload the poem I wrote about my grandfathers home. Here it is: 


The Home I Grew Up In
A poem by Marie Newell

“ The House, the home I grew up in had rows and rows of roses in the front yard during the spring.

The glistening snow on the grass during Winter would take my breath away in the house, the home I grew up in. 

The House, the home I grew up in smelled of cinnamon, raisin oatmeal and brewing Folgers in the morning. 

The perfectly round dumplings in the warm soup would hug you at dinner-time in the house, the home I grew up in. 

The creaky floor boards in the hallway and the pristine white laminate floors in the kitchen is something that I adored in the house, the home that I grew up in. 

The basement with the chocolate brown carpet tiles and the old box television that I would watch cartoons on was something I cherished in the house, the home that I grew up in. 

The green floral carpet and the chair where my Papa would sit adorned by his gracious wife in her flower cushions is something I loved in the house, the home that I grew up in. 

The humungous green lush backyard with the playset that would come out of the ground when you would swing on the swings too fast was the best of times in the house, the home that I grew up in. 

The smell of Papa's aftershave and the bubbles left in the bathtub that grandma would take was all in the house, the home that I grew up in. 

The blue Chevrolet truck and the chocolate Ford was part of the house, the home I grew up in. 

The markings on the beams that stated "Sherry loves Jeff" in the laundry room  was part of the house, the home that I grew up in. 

The house, the home I grew up in was cared for, and loved by all. 

It was our house, our home that we grew up in.”

Uncle Cecil will be missed. He was always so loving and fun to be around. Out of all my uncles, he was the best. I’m happy he’s back with Aunt Pat in paradise.  Sending lots of love and comfort to my cousins. 

My deepest sympathies goes out to my family.  Uncle Cecil was an amazing person. I’ll miss him and his wonderful smile. I’m so sorry for my cousins loss. RIP uncle Cecil with aunt Pat. Love you guys lots. 💗

I have memories of Cecil from banking days as he was one of our key electricians and helped wherever needed.  He was wonderful, always helpful and smiling.  He was very proud of his family, and I met the love of his life, Pat, on a few occasions.  Warm memories are all that come to my mind and may your memories help mend your hearts.  He is with his Lord and Pat; that was his goal all his life.  

Cecil was such a blessing at the family reunions.  He was always there early to help with set-up, tear down and all the actives for the day.  First one there, last one to leave!  Always so eager to greet everyone and make the reunions so fun, exciting and mostly, Memorable!! 🙏

Cecil was such a good natured, kind man.  Always loved seeing him at Steve and Nonie's family parties.  Nonie, I'm so glad you were able to witness a Broncos Super 
Bowl victory with your Dad. What a priceless memory. Sending thoughts and prayers to you all. 

Cecil was a proud and vital member of our Bible Study Fellowship group. It was obvious how much he loved the Lord and his family. 
Cecil always greeted us with a warm smile and kind words. He was a special man and will be missed by all of us. 
May the Lord bless you as He greets you at the pearly gates.

Cecil was one of my favorite men in the world. He was always upbeat and was a faithful, Christian man. He was always encouraging. So thankful to call him family. His was a life well-lived. Praying for all of you who called him dad and grandpa. 

I'm so grateful to have known one of the kindest, most gentle human beings to walk this earth. May he rest in peace forever, reunited with his beautiful bride (it always brought me so much joy to hear him say "my beautiful bride"). Deepest condolences to the entire family.

This is my papa & I walking downtown Santa Fe, New Mexico. This was my graduation of 2015. 

It was our honor to have known Cecil.  Such a wonderful, Godly man. His love for God, his family, and friends will live on for generations.  We will miss his warm smile and kind words.  We thank God for Cecil.  We truly loved and respected him.

I just wanted to share this picture of the last time we were all together celebrating as a family. 

Cecil was the kindest and sweetest person we ever met. He loved his family and enjoyed spending time with them. He loved his Denver Broncos!  He will truly be missed, but never forgotten.  He is walking the streets of gold, hand in hand with his beautiful wife in heaven! God gained an angel. Rest in peace.

Oh Uncle how we are going to miss you. Thank you for always being the amazing uncle and showing up for us in all of our life events. Your love for your family never went unnoticed. Now your up in the heavens dancing with Aunt Pat once again. Till we meet again, we love you!! 

I feel that I am very lucky to have met Cecil.  We had some great talks that I will never forget.  So easy to talk to, non judgmental.  Cecil would make me feel so comfortable to be around, I would forget and call him Daddy.  Such great caring man.
