Sandra was born on March 31, 1948 in Memphis Tennessee to Francis Mayer Mulvihill. At a very young age she moved to Corpus Christi, Texas where she lived during her childhood and the majority of her young adult life.
She is survived by her husband of 51 years, Charlie, her daughter, Alicia, her son Greg and her four grandchildren Emily, Meghan, Madelyn and Elizabeth (Ellie). She was fortunate to have many close relatives with over twenty first cousins, aunts, uncles, nephews and nieces who she loved dearly. Her family and faith was an important part of her life on Earth.
She is predeceased by her sister Carol.
She attended George Washington University in Washington, DC on scholarship. But soon found the lure of returning to her hometown of Corpus Christi to be closer to her Mother was too great. She returned to Corpus and continued her education there.
She was employed by an Insurance Agency and continued her successful career in the insurance industry for forty plus years. Her work was a main part of her social life as she developed friendships that would last a lifetime. She retired in 2008 ending her career as the Casualty Risk Manager for a fortune 500 company, Temple Inland Corporation.
One of her outside activities was participating with her Bunco Group which has been together for over 30 years. Sandra joined and created many memories and lasting friendships.
After retirement, Sandra spent time with new and old friends while finding activities to replace her former work schedule. She took up golf where she became active in the club and the Women’s Association. She never felt like she attained the status of a good golfer but she did enjoy the days on the golf course and the fellowship with her fellow golfers. She frequently said the most enjoyable thing about golf was standing on the first tee and deciding where to go to lunch after the round. Annually, she would travel with her best friends. They would travel to close and far away destinations laughing all the way there and back…only to start planning the next trip as soon as they arrived back home.
She was loyal, liked to laugh, share stories, go on adventures, visit the beach, fiercely loved and relentlessly prayed for her dear family and friends.
Her most satisfying experience during 51 years of marriage was helping to raise two children and four granddaughters. Not only was she their Mom and Nana, she was their best friend.
