Sally was preceded in death by her parents and sister, Joyce Hartig March. She is survived by her husband of 56 years, Joe; son Joseph of Naperville, IL, his wife Felicia and their two sons Mark and Andrew; son Bob of Boise, ID; son Rich of Austin, TX, his wife Shannon and their two sons Miller and Garrett; brother Jack Hartig of Palos Heights, IL and his wife Lorie; brother-in-law Joe March of Orland Park, IL; sister-in-law Loretta Murray and her husband Dave of Wyoming, OH; brother-in-law Bob Egan of Chicago, IL; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Sally grew up in Chicago and graduated from DePaul University and received an advanced degree from Northwestern University. She worked as a researcher at Argonne National Laboratories in the Chicago area. In 1956, she and Joe were married in Chicago and started to raise the family that was the joy of her life. Sally worked as a substitute teacher as her children grew.
Sally made friends around the country as her family moved to Independence, MO, Houston, TX, Williamsburg, VA, and Naperville, IL (twice) before retiring to the Lakeway area for the last twenty-two years.
Sally was active in numerous Catholic parishes and volunteer organizations wherever she lived. In Lakeway she was a past president and active member of the Lakeway Seton Associates. She volunteered at the Emmaus Catholic Parish and was a member of the Ladies of Charity and worked at its thrift shop. Sally also participated in the Lakeway Women's Club, camera club, bridge club, dance club, dinner club, women's investment club and was a founding member of the Lake Travis Republican Women's Club. She enjoyed the UT Lamp Program and cheering on UT basketball, football, and volleyball teams.
A memorial mass will be held at Emmaus Catholic Parish in Lakeway at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday February 9th. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the Emmaus Catholic Parish for the parish activity center or to the charity of your choice.
