Melissa Ann Kieffer, 29, Lakeway, Texas died Monday November 11, 2019 of complications from a mitochondrial disease (MELAS). She is survived by her mother and father: Andrea and John Kieffer, her brother and his family: Matt and Hilary Kieffer, and their daughter Lily, and her devoted and best friend, Chris Soukup.
Melissa lived an enriched and blessed life: she traveled the world, lived on 3 continents, and always made close friends, any time, any place. She chose to live with grace, acceptance of everything and everyone God put in her life. She was an Artist and an Entrepreneur, turning these passions into a mission to spread awareness and fundraise for The United Mitochondrial Disease Foundation. She created over 5000 individual greeting cards enjoyed by people around the world (including the Queen of Norway and President Trump.)
The family is eternally grateful to the hundreds of people who have helped in Melissa’s care and have loved and supported Melissa over the past 9 years since her diagnosis. She was truly blessed to have known each and every one of you!
A service to celebrate the life of Melissa will be held on Wednesday, November 27th at 6:30 pm at The Lakeway Church, Lakeway, Texas.
At Melissa’s request, the family asks that in lieu of flowers, donations be made to the Melissa Kieffer Family Research Fund at UMDF.org. Checks payable to UMDF (mailing address: 8085 Saltsburg Road #100, Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania 15239).
