Born on April 21, 1938 in Bedford, Indiana, Mary Jane was the youngest of four children between Leathel J. Hobson and Martha May Mark Hobson. Growing up in southern Indiana, she graduated from Bedford High School and Indiana University. She met the love of her life, Michael (Mike) Howard Davison on a blind date in July 1961. At the time, Mike was a radio announcer and local celebrity on WBIW radio in Bedford. They were married just three weeks later on August 6, 1961. The following year, their son, Montgomery Michael was born.
Mary Jane and Mike lived many places over their 58 year marriage. In their first decade together, they lived in Indianapolis, Indiana where Mary Jane taught grade school, Elkhart, Indiana and Columbus, Ohio where daughter, Emily Kay was born.
In 1972, they moved to Dallas, Texas where they settled into a north Dallas neighborhood filled with families that have remained life-long friends termed the LaCabeza crowd. It was here that Mary Jane also gained the endearing name of Lightnin’ as a colloquialism to her laid back demeanor.
In 1986, Mary Jane and Mike relocated to Maryland where they enjoyed many years of boating with friends in the Chesapeake Bay and playing bridge.
Mary Jane and Mike chose to enjoy their retired years in Cedar Park, Texas where they were active in the Treasure of the Hills Senior Center, and were members of many bridge clubs.
Mary Jane was an avid reader, loved doing crafts, and working with stained glass. She despised new technology, wanted nothing to do with computers, thought social media was a waste of time, and still relied on old fashioned pens and legal pads to manage her life. She begrudgingly accepted a cellular flip phone, but hated it and refused to used it.
She is preceded in death by her siblings: Kenneth Dale Hobson, Wanda May Pershing, and Wilma Jean Lassen, her step-brother: Warren Theodore Hobson, sister-in-law: Marilyn Ceigler Hobson, brother-in-law: George Lassen, and her nephew: Alan James Pershing.
