She was preceded in death by her husband Thadieth E. “Thad” Son, Jr., father, Leslie Cunningham and her mother Jeanne Marshall Cunningham. She is survived by her Aunt Sue Psencik, Sue’s daughter Elizabeth, husband Matt, children Abby and Remi; Lisa Gayle Fallon, husband Patrick and daughter Sydney; special friends, Janis, Patty, and Becky; her much loved poodle Duffy; many colleagues and friends.
Carol grew up in Hillsboro, Texas with her parents and grandparents Frank and Maurine Marshall, Virgie Leonard Cunningham.
Carol graduated from Hillsboro High School, Hillsboro, Texas 1965, graduated from UT Austin, BA, highest honors (Phi Beta Kappa) 1969, graduated from UT Austin School of Law, with high honors 1971. She was admitted to the Texas Bar, June 1972.
She graduated from Austin Presbyterian Seminary, M.A. degree 1998.
Carol was in private law practice for most of her career, including at the time of her marriage.
Carol loved classical music, UT football, politics, rooting for the underdog, reading, knitting and spending time with her poodle, Duffy.
During Carol’s marriage to Thad they attended Conspirare’s Christmas concerts, Aida, The Phantom of the Opera, Mandy Patinkin singing Sondheim, Sarah Brightman’s Harem, and Cirque du Soleil programs.
A celebration of Carol’s life will be held on Saturday, April 17, 2021, at 11:00 a.m. at Lake Travis United Methodist Church, Ranch Road 620 North, Lakeway, Texas 78734. Rev. Scott Heare will be presiding.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Music Ministry of Lake Travis United Methodist Church.
